Short-Term Fostering
with Orchard Care Fostering

Do you feel that you could provide short-term fostering to a child or young person in need? Talk to the team at Orchard Care Fostering about short-term foster care. Based in Durham, we cover the Northeast area of England and offer support services that are second-to-none.

What is short-term fostering
and how could you help?

Like emergency fostering, short-term fostering is when a child is placed in temporary foster care. This type of fostering is typically intended to be a brief and temporary solution while longer-term plans are made for the child's care, but is just as vital within the care system as any other type of fostering.

At Orchard Care Fostering, we have worked with foster families across the Northeast for almost 20 years. Since 2005 we have seen the benefits of good short-term fostering and the impact it can have on the system. Our priority is to ensure the children within our care system as nurtured and cared for and that our foster carers feel nurtured and supported too. We are always looking for individuals or families who are willing and able to provide short-term foster care. Applicants must be prepared to offer stability, support, and care during times of uncertainty, with a focus on the child's safety and well-being.

If you want to explore the possibility of becoming a short-term foster carer, please reach out to our team in Durham. We are a not-for-profit organisation that is dedicated to equal opportunities for all children, including those who may only need temporary care.

Become a short-term foster carer for a unique and rewarding experience

  • You could make an immediate impact on a child’s life by providing a safe place for them to call home, even for just a short time.

  • Becoming a short-term foster carer means that you are able to help a child or young person, whilst still having flexibility in terms of duration and commitment.

  • Many of our foster families start out by offering short-term foster care to enable them to experience how foster care works for them.

  • Short term fostering can help you experience helping children of different ages, cultures and backgrounds, while providing a sense of fulfilment and caring for the community and the children within it.
