The financial aspect of becoming a foster carer should never negatively affect your decision to undertake this incredibly rewarding role. Helping a child to develop, grow and thrive is an exceptional experience and while financial rewards aren’t a part of that, the foster care allowance plays an essential role in allowing those that want to do it, be able to afford to do it.

It is important for you to understand how fostering will affect your finances and at Orchard Care Fostering, we are here to provide you with all the details you need to make a well-informed decision when it comes to moving forward and becoming a foster carer to a child or children in need.

Stability within a household plays a vital role when it comes to all types of foster care and the foster care allowance that you will receive helps to enable this stability and support a safe, nurturing environment.

What amount can you expect with a foster care allowance?

You can receive up to £24,000 of tax-free allowances for each foster child in your care. There is no single, set fostering fee, the allowance is calculated on each individual's circumstances, and takes into account a number of different factors. These factors include:

  • The number of children you foster

  • The age of the child or children

  • The type of foster care you are providing

  • The region or area you live.

Don't let finances become a barrier. Reach out to our team to find out more about the tax-free fostering allowances you could receive.
